Competing in the NAIA, AIAW, and NCAA Division II, Missouri State teams captured more team titles in conference competition, and more all-sports championships than any other school in the Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA).

With such a rich tradition, Missouri State entered the ranks of NCAA Division I in 1982. Since then, Missouri State teams have continued to excel in their respective conferences. In fact, both the men's and women's teams annually challenge for championships in virtually every sport in the Missouri Valley Conference and the Gateway Football Conference.

For this reason, Missouri State asks you to join the growing number of individuals who contribute to The Bears Fund. Your financial assistance will help improve the quality of the athletic program, and enhance the experiences of student-athletes representing Missouri State.

pennantThe purpose

The Bears Fund is Missouri State's annual fund-raising program for intercollegiate athletics. The fund was established in 1981 in conjunction with the university's decision to move all men's and women's sports, with the exception of football, to Division I competition. Football competes at the Division I-AA level.

The primary reason behind The Bears Fund is the need for additional revenue to help support the athletic budget in the areas of recruitment and athletic scholarships. Although the athletic department receives a portion of its operating funds from the institution, it is increasingly necessary to supplement those funds with private contributions to offset the growing demands of competition at a higher level.

The main goal of The Bears Fund is to provide a base of professional fund-raising services, athletic communications and other assistance through which friends and alumni may enhance the development and achievements of the Missouri State teams.
